I’ve said before that blogging on a Friday is rough and blogging on a Monday is rough. Blogging on vacation sucks. I just want to either sleep, eat, watch TV, or drink beer. I have nothing to talk about when I’m on vacation because I’ve relaxed all day. I haven’t let my mind wander to some weird place (like it does during work) where it can spark some kind of idea for a post.
There is, however, one other thing that I apparently like doing on vacation and that’s running. I think I’ve run about twenty-four miles this week in Washington state. That may be the most miles I’ve ever run in a week. I’ve been steadily increasing my weekly miles to around twenty and I’d like to keep it around there and increase it even more. I’ve got a ten mile race in September and a half marathon in October to train for.
But the fact is – and I said as much yesterday – I just like running now. My day is better when I do it. That’s odd but it’s true.
I ordered a new pair of running shoes online the other day (black and blue Brooks Ghost 10, the exact same shoes that I have now but they’re cheaper because the Ghost 11 just came out) because apparently you’re suppose to switch every three hundred miles or so and I’m pretty sure that I’ve run that much in the past six months.
My girlfriend and I ran around Green Lake in Seattle today and it was just another cool way to appreciate the city.
Also, we went to the Pike Place Market. I got two Nirvana t-shirts and we went to the Pike Place Starbucks (that’s where the original one is!) and I got my black and white Seattle Starbucks mug. You have no idea how happy this makes me. Then, five minutes later, we walked past the actual first Pike Place Starbucks. The one that I had been in previously was merely A Pike Place Starbucks not THE Pike Place Starbucks but whatever, lesson learned. I just hope the Dutch family in front of us at the first one figured out the difference too.
I have to go to sleep because I’m waking up to watch the Spurs game with the Seattle Spurs Supporters, again. Man, I’ve been here a while.
