Last night, according to the WordPress app on my phone, my blog went over 20,000 views for 2018. It doesn’t mean anything, really. It’s not like a commonly accepted blogging milestone. I don’t get a prize. 20,000 views doesn’t mean that now I’m available for syndication. I’ll be honest, a big reason that I’m writing this is that I skipped two days last week and I need to make up some posts. But also, it’s a good chunk of views and I wanted to just take a moment to recognize it.
My second highest number of views was 15,823 and that was for the entire year of 2016. I thought that it would be cool to beat that, maybe even get up to 20,000. Well, I have, and it’s only September.
If there’s one thing that I’ve learned in all of my years of performing, it’s that no one ever owes you their time to watch your stand up or come to your improv show or read your blog post. When they do, it’s very cool. So, if you’ve ever read anything here, thank you. I set out to write every day this year whether what I wrote was good or not and I think I’ve stuck to that, with “or not” being true more times than I’d like.
I want to say a special thanks to Hilarie, Josh, Richard, and Michelle, all of whom have told me they read this blog daily. And thanks to my girlfriend Christina who has been totally supportive of the writing every day thing since the start.
I just got a little acceptance speech slash book dedication-y there, didn’t I? Sorry about that. I’ll be back to tales of anxiety, running, and Xennial-specific pop culture musings soon enough. But, for now, thanks for reading.
