The Mets extended their win streak to nine tonight in their win over the Brewers and I am speechless. It’s a dream start and as a fan I’m starting to put aside my natural cynicism and believe that this could be the year.
Also, Trump ordered a retaliatory strike against Syria.
It’s really great to see Steven Matz get his first win just a day after Zach Wheeler’s great outing. It looks like this fab five starting rotation that has never quite been able to stay together could finally be a force to be reckoned with.
And I’m ashamed that I haven’t been paying attention to the situation in Syria so I’m completely ill equipped to even wrap my head around these events.
I’ve never seen Yoenis Cespedes field like he did tonight. I knew that he had it in him but I’d rarely seen this side of his game. He seems like a guy who loves a big stage and gets better when things are going well. If the Mets’ winning ways continue, I think this could be an incredible season for Cespedes.
Christ, I found out about Syria through Facebook. Facebook! I was riding in an elevator at work today and there was a little screen with news and the headline was about England and Syria and I just glanced at it and didn’t investigate further and I don’t even know what’s going on right now.
Todd Frasier! Two home runs!
For a while I was thinking that Trump wasn’t that bad, that maybe he couldn’t do too much damage other than making a mockery of our democratic process and leading a three ring circus of domestic policy and media. But we’ve actually put a host of a reality television show in a position to order strikes on another country. This is the day when the consequences of 2016 have become real.
Jeurys Familia got his seventh save tonight.
What irks me is that I concern myself with the Mets while the world spins around me and I remain oblivious because on some level I choose to.
Russia is warning of consequences for our actions.
Wasn’t this the nightmare scenario? Trump starts a war to rally support when his approval starts to drop and Mueller gets too close?
Let’s go Mets.
Ya gotta believe.
